From the Director of Communications

The immense kindheartedness of our people showed itself once again and we are filled with gratitude.

Hundreds filled the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom at upper Tumon on Friday, June 21 to support our archdiocesan radio station during the KOLG “Save Our Station” Gala fundraising dinner.

Father Joel de los Reyes and the passionate members of the Guam Divine Mercy Apostolate did a splendid job planning and hosting the event which proved to be a wonderful and overwhelming success in more ways than one.

The archdiocese raised $54,815.00 in gross proceeds from the gala. After costs related to rental of the hotel ballroom and other expenses are deducted, we’re looking at a net total of about $40,000 from this event alone.

On behalf of Archbishop Michael Byrnes, Vicar General Father Jeff San Nicolas, our Curia, the Office of Communications and KOLG 90.9 FM, we express sincerest gratitude to everyone for their support.

Thank you to Father Joel and his Divine Mercy prayer warriors and doers. Thank you to all patrons who bought tickets to the gala, donated items or supported it in other ways. Thanks to the contributors to the overall SOS drive which began last April. Thank you to the volunteers of KOLG 90.9 FM. Thank you to our stalwart engineer Bob Kelley and his staff. Thank you to the dedicated, engaging hosts of the “Why Do Catholics Do That?” program, Jose Martinez, Fred Rodriguez and Father Ron Richards.

Thank you to our listeners. You have shown you care about Catholic programming. And so, we are moved to work harder to keep the Light of the Marianas shining in our homes, offices, and cars.

Most of all, we give thanks to our dear Lord who blesses all good things. He comes to the aid of his children, who plead, pray and work earnestly in endeavors that are rooted in sharing the Gospel of Christ to others.

We’ll update the Catholic faithful more about the progress of our radio station as we shift from “Save Our Station” to “Sustain Our Station.” It’ll take a lot of hard work. However, it’s exciting work knowing how much so many of you care about the archdiocese’s radio ministry.

God bless you for your help and kindness! – Tony C. Diaz
