Santa Barbara Catholic School hosted a two-day professional development training workshop on Sept. 7 and 8 at the school’s Petrie Gymnasium.

The training, dubbed “Character Awakening and the Virtues Project” was attended by faculty and staff as well as guests from Bishop Baumgartner Memorial School, Infant of Prague Nursery and Kindergarten, and the Sisters of Mercy.

Certified personalities trainer and Virtues Project facilitator Ms. Palou Abustan conducted the workshop. She presented the four temperaments as well as basic tenets of practicing the virtues in everyday life.

The training was designed to help participants realize their strengths and weaknesses, thus allowing them to live more authentic meaningful lives. As educators, this process is helpful so they can use their strengths to create safe, caring and high performing learning environments.

“It was good to be awakened, to know your strengths and weaknesses and find out how to work on them and tap on the grace of God so you can become the better version of yourself,” shared SBCS faculty Mrs. Mariel Tesoro.
