Thank you to all those who answered our SOS call to help keep KOLG 90.9 FM, “The Light of the Marianas” beaming in the midst of funding difficulties.

Consider yourselves “Light Savers!”

You have inspired a new phrase and hopefully, with the help of the Holy Spirit, the start of an entire army of Guam Catholics who will help strengthen the “Light of the Marianas” like never before.

SOS now ‘Sustain Our Station’

As a result, Archbishop Michael Byrnes has given his blessing for our archdiocesan radio station to continue operations for the time being, contingent on KOLG developing strong, consistent underwriting support and funding to sustain itself year to year.

In other words, the work has just begun. SOS, “Save Our Station” now shifts to “Sustain Our Station” mode. To be viable now and in the long run, KOLG requires a minimum of $50,000 each year to sustain operations.

We believe that our radio station can thrive. YOU are the reason why.

The nearly $26,000 raised thus far from Mar. 7 to May 23, represents contributions from three dozen donors. Aside from the monetary donations, many other individuals and groups have helped and are continuing to assist our archdiocesan radio station in various ways.

It’s been a touching experience speaking to different persons who call us up or approach us to share how much they care about our Catholic radio station. It’s an affirmation of the importance of radio, as a way to bring the Gospel light of Christ to people.

Divine Mercy Apostolate spearheading June 21 gala

In addition to regular contributions, KOLG expects to receive a considerable boost from a major event planned for late June. Father Joel de los Reyes and members of the dedicated Guam Divine Mercy Apostolate are coordinating a “Save Our Station” Gala fundraising dinner to be held 7 p.m. June 21 at the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom. Tickets for the dinner are $100 per person. Group or corporate tables are available for $1,000 with 10 seats per table.

If you are moved to help our radio station while enjoying a great night of fellowship, music and dining, please contact any of the following for tickets: Rose Marcos, 683-1168,; Arleen Roberto, 688-3727,; Ben Mesa, 482-9192,; or Father Joel, 483-9464,

Thank you so much Father Joel and all members of the Divine Mercy Apostolate!

Automatic monthly donations enabled

The archdiocese welcomes your support of KOLG through participation in the gala or through donations to the regular SOS drive. In addition to making one-time contributions, individuals may also donate monthly through authorized credit card payments.

To inquire about this method of contributing and for a copy of the “Authorization for Credit Card Charge” form, please call the Chancery at 562-0000 and ask for the Business Office.

Thank you once again to all our “Light Savers”!
