The first Sunday of October is “Respect Life Sunday” as designated decades ago by St. John Paul the Great during his time one earth as Pope John Paul II.

Sponsored and coordinated every year by the Guam Catholic Pro-Life Committee, the Walk for Life begins with participants asked to gather by 1:30 p.m. at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica in Hagatna. The event will begin at 2 p.m.

After prayers and talks inside the Cathedral-Basilica, participants will proceed with their rosaries and signs along Chalan Santo Papa, turning left on the sidewalk on Route 4. They will proceed along Marine Corp Drive toward an empty lot across the former Citibank and then turn around and return to the Cathedral-Basilica.

Everyone is asked to use extreme caution and to be respectful at all times.

For information, please call 777-5433 or 777-6014.

Catholics through the United States will participate in prayerful gatherings to stand up for our precious unborn and decry abortion all throughout October, which is known as Respect Life Sunday.
