The first Sunday of October is Respect Life Sunday as proclaimed and designated by the late Holy Father, Pope John Paul the Great.
Once again, Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron, OFM Cap., D.D. is calling for all Catholics to participate in the annual show of prayer and support for the precious gift of life during the Walk for Life. Archbishop Anthony sent a letter this week to all clergy, religious and leaders of Catholic agencies and lay organizations call- ing for them to attend the event and encourage adults and youth at their sites to participate.
The massacre of abortion continues with great frequency on Guam and throughout the Respect Life Sunday will be commemorated October 6th, at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica with prayers and the Walk for Life. Everyone will assemble at 1:30 p.m. with the event commencing promptly at 2 p.m. world and is one major way God’s give of life is desecrated.
“More than ever before, we need to come together as Catholics and attest our faith in the promulgation of the sacredness of all human life,” Archbishop Anthony said in his letter. “As leaders of the Church, we must be pro- active and not passive, so that those we lead will be inspired to follow the footsteps of our Lord, Jesus Christ. So please announce and remind everyone to participate in this very important event with zeal and enthusiasm. He reminded pastors to discuss in their homilies vital life issues such as abortion, suicide and euthanasia and to include the intercessions for Life prayer at their parishes.
