Peace be with you! God blessed me this summer to lead 55 teenagers closer to Him, in the Couples for Christ (CFC) Youth for Christ (YFC) Retreat Camp 2016 July 29-31.
The camp lasted two days and two nights, from Friday night to Sunday afternoon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Gregorio T. and Frances Q. Calvo. I’m thankful for them because this is the second time they opened their house to YFC and allowed us to do God’s work.
Truly the camp was successful. Whether we are leaders, teachers, etc., our main goal should be to empower our followers, or students to become better. Regarding this camp, just to see and hear the testimonies given by people who you know have totally different backgrounds, I came away knowing I’ve done what God wants me to do.
This camp was a humbling experience for me. The preparation work, set-up, the camp itself, and the break-down. All this work brought me to the realization that, “FYI, life’s not about me.” It’s about serving others, and even if it means that you do it alone, then so be it. Jesus carried the burden of the world — nothing can compare to that.
This experience also taught me to call on God, to call on my brothers and sisters and use my resources instead of scratching my head and wondering what to do. Truly, He works in mysterious ways. Yes, we had our struggles, but who doesn’t? Nobody is perfect. We can never be perfect but it doesn’t mean that we should give up. It is only by “The Power of The Holy Spirit” that we can do all these things and more.
I praise and thank God for giving me my CFC, SFC, HOLD, SOLD, and YFC brothers and sisters, and all the support they provided. Being in a Catholic community like Couples for Christ truly brings me joy and comfort because I know that they will always be there for me. I can count on them when I need them. I especially thank God for my Youth for Christ family because they’ve become a second safe haven for me, and because we are a Christ centered ministry. I know I’m always in a good presence when I’m with them.
May God bless everyone 100 fold who offered their time, talent, and treasure during the Retreat Camp. Truly I can say that our Lord is pleased. God bless all, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit. Amen. Praise be to God!
