Fatima is a prefiguring of the final, titanic battle between good and evil. St. Michael the Archangel and the Blessed Virgin Mary will war against Satan and his followers as presented in the Books of Genesis and Revelation.

In her appearances to the children, Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco, Our Lady continually stressed the many offenses against her Son and to Her Immaculate Heart. Her appearances were a warning of the rampant impurity that was taking place universally. Although dire, since she had given the children a vision of hell during her third appearance, she also gave them the remedies to stop and prevent further punishments.

Our Lady asked the faithful to pray the rhosary every day in order that peace come into the world and bring an end to World War I, in progress at that time. She further asked for the establishment of devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. A final request was that Russia be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart.

The devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary includes a dedication of the faithful to the first five Saturdays. This is in reparation for the five kinds of offenses and blasphemies perpetrated against the Mother of God: blasphemies against her Immaculate Conception; against her virginity; against her divine maternity, while also refusing to accept her as the Mother of men; those who publicly try to instill indifference, scorn and even hatred toward the Immaculate Mother; and those who insult her directly in her sacred images.

The belief of the Immaculate Heart of Mary represents not just another devotion to the Mother of Jesus, but the sum of all other devotions to her. The devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary signifies the symbol of Mary’s maternal love, the expressed aspect of her person.

It is the Blessed Mother’s Heart which the Holy Spirit has joined indissolubly to the Heart of Jesus to communicate the life of the Father to every creature according to the perfect mode of the unity of the family of God.

The family of man, incorporating mother, father and children was stressed at Fatima as indicted by St. Joseph’s appearance. God assured that there would be an earthly father for Jesus in the person of St. Joseph to model the family of God.

Satan’s plan to destroy mankind’s future destiny to be with God begins with the destruction of families, childbearing and child rearing.

Every law that counters traditional marriage between a man and a woman; that legalizes abortion; allows euthanasia or mercy killing (or just because you don’t like your diagnosis); that encourages surrogate parenting, IVF and other “non-natural” ways of propagation is a blow struck against the family. These are the massive plague of impurity that has infested our world.

Our Lady gave us, the faithful, tasks to fulfill in order to see the triumph of her Immaculate Heart. This spiritual battle that we are in can only be solved by the sword of the Spirit. We need to fight Satan with the spiritual arms she has given us because although she is the one who “will crush him with her heel” she expects that we, too, resolve to help ourselves.
