For the Umatuna Si Yu’os
Editor’s Note: the following events and guidelines have been submitted to all parishes and is printed in the Umatuna for all the faithful to engage in prayerful support of those entering into the Catholic Faith.
As the Church draws near to the liturgical season of Lent, the Catholic Christian community is once again given the opportunity to ritually welcome catechumens and candidates in the presence of the Local Ordinary of the Archdiocese of Agana, Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron, OFM Cap., D.D. Catechumens, those who desire the Sacrament of Baptism and full membership into the Catholic Church, and candidates, those who desire to be fully initiated into the Church, will mark their spiritual journey with this beautiful ritual called the Rite of Election. Please take note of the following:
1. Rehearsal for the Rite of Election – 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016
Venue will be at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica. Catechumens, candidates, godparents and catechists are asked to be present.
2. Mass with Rite of Election – 9:30 a.m., Sunday, February 14, 2016
His Excellency, Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron, OFM Cap., D.D. calls on those men and women preparing for the Sacraments of Baptism/Holy Eucharist/Confirmation thru the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). This includes children enrolled in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (adapted for children), preparing for the Sacraments of Baptism/Holy Eucharist/Confirmation.
3. Listing of Catechumens and Candidates
Pastors, Rectors, Administrators, RCIA Coordinators and Directors of Religious Education please prepare a list of catechumens and candidates, together with their god-parents, and indicate the sacraments they are to receive. Please submit your list via email attachment to tricia.tenorio@archagana. org or via fax at 477-3519 no later than Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Parish catechist, bring your list of catechumens to present to Archbishop Anthony at the Mass on Sunday, February 14, 2016.
